Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Pragma ("we", "us") collects, uses, shares, and protects your information when you use the Pragma website and apps (the "Service"). Because Pragma deals with sensitive relationship information, we hold ourselves to a high standard of care. By using the Service you agree to this Policy.

1. Information we collect

• Account information: your email, display name, password (stored only as a salted hash), language, and coach preferences.
• Conversation content: the voice and chat sessions you have with the AI coach, including transcripts, AI-generated summaries, and key insights. This is the most sensitive data we hold and is encrypted (see Security).
• Intake and exercise responses: answers to onboarding questions and reflections you record, used to personalize coaching. Sensitive fields are encrypted.
• Pairing data: the invite code and the link between paired partners.
• Usage and device data: limited technical data (e.g. app version, session length, error logs) to keep the Service working and secure.

2. How we use your information

We use your information to provide the Service: to run your sessions, generate summaries and insights, maintain the shared memory that improves coaching over time, personalize your experience, keep the Service secure, and comply with law. We use AI service providers to process conversation content and generate responses. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your private conversation content for advertising.

3. How AI processes your conversations

When you talk or chat with a coach, your messages are sent to AI providers to generate a response and may be summarized and stored as long-term memory so the coaching can reference relevant context later. We instruct our providers not to use your content to train their general models where that option is available to us, and we limit what is sent to what is needed to deliver the Service. AI output can be imperfect; see our Terms regarding AI-generated content.

4. What your partner can and cannot see

Pairing is designed to protect each partner's privacy. Your individual session transcripts and raw messages are never shown to your partner. What can be shared are limited, privacy-aware insights and activity (for example, that you completed today's session, your streak, or high-level themes) — and only as the product surfaces them. Neither partner can read the other's private conversations.

5. Security

We protect sensitive fields — including transcripts, messages, intake answers, and any flagged content — using strong encryption (AES-256-GCM) at the application layer, in addition to encryption in transit (TLS). Access to systems is restricted and authenticated. No system is perfectly secure, but we design Pragma to minimize what is exposed if any single layer fails.

6. Crisis detection

To keep users safe, the Service scans conversation content for signals of crisis (such as self-harm or abuse) and may log a severity-scored, encrypted record to surface appropriate resources. This safety processing is part of providing the Service responsibly. Pragma is not an emergency service.

7. Sharing and disclosure

We share information only with: service providers who process data on our behalf (such as AI, voice, hosting, and memory infrastructure) under confidentiality obligations; authorities where required by law or to protect safety; and any successor in a corporate transaction, subject to this Policy. We do not share your conversation content with advertisers or data brokers.

8. Your rights and choices

You can access, correct, export, or delete your data from within the app or by contacting us. Deleting your account removes your personal data, subject to limited retention required by law or security. Depending on where you live (for example, the EU/UK under GDPR or California under the CCPA/CPRA), you may have additional rights, including to object to or restrict certain processing; we honor these rights.

9. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service, then delete or anonymize it within a reasonable period, except where longer retention is required by law.

10. International transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

11. Children

Pragma is for adults (18+). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a minor has used the Service, contact us and we will delete the data.

12. Changes

We may update this Policy. Material changes will be notified in the app or by email. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
